Now we have a new little girl named Yuan Li Wu. She is also from China and she just turned one year old on July 15th. She was found abandoned in an alley in China wearing a blue coat and cold. She is doing really good since being put in the orphanage and now being raised by a foster family. She's a beautiful little girl and I can't imagine abandoning in her in the street. We're excited to sponsor her until she's adopted by her own "forever family." And we look forward to one day a few years from now maybe going beyond sponsorship and rescuing and adopting our own little Chinese girl who is looking for love and a family.
Why a Chinese baby? I certainly realize there are thousands of American kids that need a home and my heart absolutely breaks for them. However, as cruel as life can be, America is a free nation and has produced thousands and thousands of stories of individuals coming out of nowhere and desperate and discouraging situations to become someone and do something great. The same opportunity doesn't exist in China for its people and especially for girls. Many girl babies are actually being aborted as females are looked at as second class in most cases in China. Due economic and social hardships, if a mother goes through with the pregnancy and has a baby girl, sometimes the mother is forced to give the little girl up to an adoption agency for the child's own protection from gangs and government henchmen. The mortality rate for Chinese girls is extremely high and we'd love nothing more than to take a little girl as an infant and raise her in a loving Christian home and allow her to escape a culture that condemns and criticizes her for her gender. God knows our hearts and we' re trying to make financial plans now so hopefully with 5 years or so we may be in position to do something. What an amazing opportunity that will be!
Until then, we'll continue sponsoring Chinese baby girls from half way around the world as we pray for them and ask God to take the little bit we give each month and bless them. So we're proud to welcome Yuan Li Wu into our family for as long as she needs our sponsorship.
