So, "Is the fourth horsemen of Revelation here now?" My honest opinion is no. How can we explain the above video? How do I know that it's not real? What makes me think all of these things? How about one question at a time . . .
There are several veins of thought here and it really all depends on how one views prophecy and Revelation. Some have said that Revelation is mostly metaphorical and that considering John had no vocabulary to accurately describe what he was seeing, he described what he saw in the view of what his day had offered. There are others who take Revelation as a literal interpretation word for word. If it says a beast rose out of the sea, they believe a literal beast will rise out of the sea. Then there is the last group who believes Revelation is both literal and metaphorical. That is the group I find myself in. There is no doubt to me that parts of Revelation are completely 100% literal. I believe there will be a literal trumpet sound. There will be a literal judgment. There will be a literal anti-christ. There will be a literal battle of Armageddon. Having said that, I'm not 100% sure there will be locusts flying around with scorpions' tails and body armor. At the same time, I'm not denying the possibility either.
With all that being said, let me expalin why I do not believe the video depicts the fourth horsemen. From a strictly computer based perspective, I can say that there are plenty of programs, both picture and video some which I own, which would have the ability to superimpose any kind of image in or on any type of medium. I have watched the video several times by several different newscasts. The argument could be made of the image being imposed. The argument could be made it was light refracted or gases considering the mayhem going on. While I know its foolish to get into a war of words over what some people will absolutely go to their grave believing is actual true video, let me say that the possibility of all of those things having happened don't really form the basis of my opinion.
I do not believe it is the fourth horseman based on these facts from the book of Revelation. In Revelation 6, the Bible speaks of four horsemen coming in order. One horseman plays off the other horseman. The first horseman is believed by some to be the anti-christ. This horseman is said to have come down with the ability to make war with his bow, yet he has no arrows. He is depicted at one who will have the power to cause others to do his bidding. He is considered royalty based on his crown and he has set out to conquer and does so. If the video does depict the fourth horseman, when have we seen a fulfillment of the first horseman? The second horseman is on a fiery red horse and his power is to bring death and destruction to the world. And while there are wars going on now and terrorist attacks like our nation has never seen, can we say with certainty that what we are experiencing is tribulation death and not the death Jesus spoke of as time draws close to the tribulation? Jesus speaks in Matthew 24 that there will be wars and rumors of wars before the time of the end. The third horsemen is on a black horse and the absence of this horseman may be the most telling. This horseman brings with him a complete decimation to the global economy. And while it is true the global economy, and especially that of the USA is sluggish at best, we have not yet seen the description given for the price of wheat and barley. Based on the currency given in scripture, people will work days to buy a homer of barley. We're talking worse than the Great Depression. This is to say that as bad as the economy is now, the tribulation economy will be even worse. There is also a directive to not hurt the oil and the wine. There are different arguments on what this represents. Some prophetic scholars claim the oil and the wine represent the Jews (oil) and the Christians (wine). Others have suggested this strictly means that the horseman is not to touch Israel at all who is often symbolized by olive trees and vineyards. The absence of clear evidence of the first three horsemen having already arrived leads me to doubt the image on the youtube video above. The last argument with the horseman is that the fourth horseman is said to have power to kill a 1/4 of the world through sword, hunger, death, and wild animals. We have not seen a 1/4 of the world's population destroyed as of yet and while there were deaths in Egypt during the riots, the death toll was not nearly as substantial as it could have been or as much as it has been in other nations throughout history that overthrew their governments (i.e. American Revolution). If this is the horseman, then we should prepare to see a 1/4 of the earth killed soon.
There is also the shift in beliefs that must take place to believe that the image on the video is the fourth horseman. To believe it is the horseman, one must absolutely believe in either a mid-tribulation rapture of the church or a post-tribulation rapture of the church. The pre-tribulation rapture viewpoint is null and void if indeed the image is the fourth horseman. Those who believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, which I do, point to Revelation 4 to be the rapture of the church as John starts off the chapter saying that at the sound of a trumpet he was called up into Heaven. This fits perfectly the prophecy of Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4 that the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will rise and then we who remain will be called together to meet Him in the air. We will be changed to be like Him in the twinkling of an eye. In Daniel and Zechariah, prophecies are given concerning those which tribulation has been reserved for. Those reserved for tribulation are the wicked and those who desecrate the name of Jesus. Some has suggested that the church must go through the tribulation to be purged for the marriage supper of the Lamb. And while that may seem logical, to believe such a thing is to cheapen the ability of the blood of Jesus to already accomplish such a feat. The Bible is clear that the wrath of God is not reserved for the children of God. Judgment and chastisement is reserved for the children of God. Wrath according to Revelation is reserved for the unrighteous and rebellious. This is another reason I have to doubt this is the fourth horseman in the video.
"Well if it's not the fourth horseman, what is it?" I will be the first to say that if the image has not been superimposed, then it would take a great coincidence for light to fragment just right to create such an image. With that being said, the Apostle John stated in his first and even second epistles that the spirit of the anti-christ is already in the world. He stated the spirit was alive and well during his time. How much more so is it today? We live in a world where "alternative" lifestyles want the same rights as Biblical, biological, and normal marriages. We live in a world where people somehow are so offended that the Ten Commandments are hung in our courtrooms that somehow their being there keeps the individuals from living a long, prosperous, and happy life . . . We live in a country who has slaughtered millions of innocent babies while elevating mere humanity to the place of God in choosing who can live and who can die. All of these things and more have only gotten worse through the years and they will only continue to get worse. We're seeing natural disasters on a regular basis. As mentioned before, wars and rumors of wars are maybe more rampant now than any other time in history. We are seeing the very fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy in Matthew 24 and 25. I don't have any problem believing that the image on the video, if real, is indeed a hellacious spirit of destruction encouraging death and destruction. We know our adversary the devil has come to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus said that we are to be of good cheer for He has overcome the world.
Ultimately people will believe whatever they want to believe, but may I offer this suggestion . . . Whether the image is indeed the fourth horseman or not, shouldn't we already be living in such a way that Christ may return today? Shouldn't we already be living with the knowledge that David said our life is but a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow? And with that knowledge, how has it changed us? Are we living differently? Are we worshipping differently? Are we more committed to the purification of the bride of Christ which is the church? Are we more committed to the Great Commission? We should be. Instead church goers will line up on either side of this video and spend countless hours and energy trying to prove the other wrong. Meanwhile, former church goers will continue to point their finger at the church and point out all the problems with no innate desire or love for Christ to get involved and be the solution not the accuser. In a conversation I had with someone yesterday, I asked the question, "What would you do if you came home and saw a man had broken into your house and was beating your wife to death?" The man and I agreed that we would do nothing short of killing the man before we let him kill our wives. Do we in the church not understand that we are the bride of Christ? What does Jesus think about those in the church and outside the church who seemingly always have negativity to spew about God's bride? What does He think about those who seemingly only want to malign the church and bring hurt? I would suggest that those who like to beat up on Christ's wife, who He has already laid his life down for, may find themselves on the blunt of His wrath called the tribulation.
Whether the video accurately depicts the fourth horseman is not definitive. But what is undeniable is that Jesus Christ is coming back soon. Now is the time to get our houses in order. Now is the time to weep and pray for the lost. Now is the time to recommit ourselves to the Lord and sanctify our lives and homes unto Him. Now is the time to let go of grudges and harbored feelings and let God forgive us. Now is the time to pray for revival and be a catalyst for change in this world. Jesus questioned whether He would find faith and us working when He returns. Now is the time to get right and get ready. I've made my preparations. Have you?
God, we need Your grace. Lord, we need Your mercy.
