The way I came about receiving this book is interesting and still very much a mystery you might say. A couple of months ago as I went to get the mail at the church, there was a package in the mailbox addressed to me from T.L. Lowery's Global Foundation. Being I'm not a partner of the foundation, I assumed it was a letter for support or partnership included with a CD or something about the foundation. When I opened it and found a copy of Lowery's brand new, just released book, I was certainly surprised. Enclosed was a letter stating that books had been sent out to a few hundred pastors in the hopes that they would read it and reignite their churches and personal lives to fasting and prayer. The letter stated that Lowery planned to send the book to our President and leaders in Congress and the Judiciary system in hopes they would see our need for God. While impressed and thankful for the book, I must admit I laid it aside and forgot about it.
It would be the understatement of the year if I said 2011 wasn't a challenging year for me and my family. We've faced the devil head on seemingly on a regular basis. The fight has been hard and I would be lying to say I hadn't wanted to give in, quit, and do something else. Yet the Lord has given me strength and my eternal bright spot in the birth and gift of my little girl, Rylee. The end of 2011 hasn't been very good at all in many ways, and I've been left to ponder and wonder on things completely out of my control. In praying and thinking on everything, I was reminded that our annual start of the year fast is only a few weeks away. I immediately began to think about how fasting changes things and became even more desperate for God to move in our situations. I believe God brought this book back to mind and as I read it, God began showing me things almost like visions that are going to take place if our church and especially myself will fast with a whole and clean heart.
Fasting is repeatedly shown to move the hand of God. His hand moves in our lives and situations not because we're starving ourselves, but rather because we've humbled ourselves and declared that He is the nourishment that we need right now. It's deep calling unto deep. It's desperation calling for reciprocation. A fast always came before great victories and ministry in the Word and I believe that as we are led into our New Year's fast, God is going to do some miraculous things in our lives and church. We WILL see healings, miracles, and salvations. God will perform His Word and if we will do His Word.
