Pagano writes this book about the 2012 and 2013 NFL seasons, but mostly about his fight against cancer that completely through his life and his family out of sync. In one minute, he is celebrating the achievement of a lifelong dream. The next minute, he is fighting to live for his family and others. Pagano reveals that his faith in God, thousands of emails, texts, scriptures, and support helped him win his fight against cancer. He details his journey and how he worked to continue leading his team from a hospital room. For those who followed that season, it was truly remarkable. Pagano was able to take a 2-14 team and turn them into an 11-5 playoff team. His battle became so big that the organization #CHUCKSTRONG came into being and more than 2 million dollars ended up being raised for cancer research.
This was a great book and a must read for sports fans whether you're a Colts fan or not. I happen to be one, so it was an even easier read. You can't help but cheer for guys like Chuck Pagano who embrace their passion in football, but who understand life is more than a game. Pagano has always been a generous, kind-hearted, Christian man from the testimonies of his friends and family, but having beaten cancer, Pagano has added a new passion to his repertoire. He now makes regular visits to cancer centers to meet patients and families to encourage them and tell them about his faith which helped him through. Pagano is one of the good guys in the NFL and makes it really easy to say, "Go Colts!"
